The temple walls and windows are geometric planes with indication of tree trunks in a garden beyond.
In the foreground the bold forms of the Lantern and stepping stones are emphsized.
In this print Saito's beautiful use of the carving block's wood grain is demonstrated and is particularly striking in the Lantern, which is further enhanced by silver mica. Mica is also used in the shining stepping stores; these forms contrast with the colors and geometric planes of the background, yet use of wood grain texture ties the composition together.
